Limitless, Part 7, Healed (cont.)
March 20, 2022Today's message was the 7th in a series called Limitless and given by Pastor Patrick. It was the second in the series to touch on "healed." A video of the message can be found here.
We dealt with "answers to prayer" somewhat in an earlier session (click here).
Patrick wrapped up with the thought that we can "ask, believe, and trust." And we should persevere in those three. The Torah would add, and don't limit God's response(s) by your expectations. Here are the basic possible answers: 1. I can't hear you (over all your sin); 2, Yes; 3. No; and 4. Wait. Also realize that Yes and No can have all kinds of variations from what you might expect. "Trust" is probably the key. Trust that God will provide the best answer.
Here's an interesting index to prayer in the Old Testament, click here.
On the broader topic of sozo... Here's an interesting tidbit I picked up this week while prepping for our Passover Seder on April 12th. During the Seder, four cups of wine are consumed. Each stands for something, "I (God) will: 1. bring out, 2. deliver, 3. redeem, and 4. take." It struck me that the first three were amazingly similar to sozo's saved, freed, and healed. The 4th one, "I will take," uses the same word as in "take a spouse." This seems to me much like "becoming one flesh," a unit, becoming whole with God - sozo! See Exodus 6:6-7.
Bonus Fun Fact(s)
Who, surprisingly, is not mentioned in the Passover Seder? Moses! Lest he become worshipped. This would be like George Washington not being mentioned in a 4th of July remembrance! No one knows where Moses is buried, either, for the same reason. BTW, Moses was denied entry to the Promised Land not because he hit the rock to get water. Do you know why God didn't allow Moses into the Holy Land? See Numbers 20:7-11 and Deuteronomy 32:51–52.
